What is the role of a therapist?
It is not my job to give any advice or predict what will happen in your life.In terms of reaching goals, we are collaborating together in a compassionate space. I will provide a unique outside perspective and empower you with tools to better manage stress or if appropriate problem-solve ways to meet your needs. I will also be your cheerleader on the sidelines as you’re navigating the plays of life!
What is your approach to couples therapy?
I am informed in emotion-focused therapy,, that looks at the couple stuck in a wounded cycle of feeling unsafe and having unmet needs. This cycle then repeats in outward emotions and defenses that perpetuate disconnection. In therapy, we aim to understand the root of these wounds and go deeper with the emotions and use the therapist as a practice “safe person” that helps to meet those needs. Overtime, we practice then with the partners together ways of breaking the cycle and learning to turn towards each other to meeting our needs. Also, incorporate Gottman therapy as I am Gottman Level 2 trained
What is your billing policy?
I currently do not take any forms of insurance, however, depending on the insurance you may be eligible for some reimbursement. Clients may call the member services phone number that’s usually on the physical copy of their insurance cards. I accept payment via credit card through secure client portal.
How do “out of network” benefits work?
Clients pay the whole cost of the session up front. Then, if eligible with their insurance plan, they can submit the superbills for the therapy sessions directly to their insurance companies (typically through the insurance company client portal), and may be reimbursed a percentage of the fee for the sessions in the superbill. Typically clients must first meet their deductible (a dollar amount you pay before the insurance will cover any costs) in order to be eligible for out of network reimbursements. Individual deductibles can vary widely.
What hours do you work?
Hours and availability is always changing, so this is something we can discuss during initial consultation. Current working days are Mon-Thursday and Saturday.
How does sliding scale work?
Please don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss a sliding scale rate. There is no income information needed, we can access together frequency and rate that is best for your life circumstance and your experience (scale is $85-160)
What is the first step of getting started?
Scheduling a free 15-minute consultation call in order to see if we would be a good fit and accessing if I can provide the type of support you are looking for.
What is the typical scheduling for therapy?
I typically recommend beginning once a week to start in order to build rapport, but every other week is also an option. To ensure I can accommodate clients I bring on, I assign a reoccurring appointment that we agree upon, and can be changed upon request and availability.
