Therapy For Relationships

People seek therapy for all kinds of situations in regards to relationships. Relationships are such an important part of our life, and who we surround ourselves with can either lift us up or bring us down.

Often times, we feel like with different people we are going through the same patterns and can’t see a way out. We can feel stuck in relationships with family, friends, or romantic partners. People seek therapy to get “unstuck”, gaining clarity and perspective to be able to respond differently.

Often times, we are looking to figure how to fill voids and be more connected with others. Relational therapy can be done as an individual, a couple, or polycule. 

Seeking relational therapy may be for you if:

  • You feel misunderstood in your connections
  • You have people pleaser tendencies
  • You are always going above and beyond for others and still getting mistreated
  • You are having difficulty growing in your connection
  • You desire connections, but you are an introvert that withdraws
  • You are stuck in casual relationships or situationships that are unfulfilling
  • You are unsure of what type of relationship structure works best for you and have been questioning (monogamous-ish, polyamorous, ethically non monogamous, etc)

Therapy For LGBTQIA+ Identity Exploration

A lot of people need support as they are questioning their identity and need a safe space to explore with people outside of their own circles. This can be a stressful process and it helps to have someone to guide you along the journey.

Identity exploration is less about labels, and moreso gaining confidence in yourself and working through big emotions as you navigate. This is less about the destination, but moreso about how to feel glimmers that spark joy. This can include exploring sexual orientation, gender identity, self-expression, or valued characteristics. 

Seeking therapy may be for you if: 

  • You don’t have other safe, supportive people to talk to
  • You experience distress in thinking about parts of your body associated with you sex assigned at birth (gender dysphoria)
  • You are transgender and/or nonbinary and are overwhelmed in where to begin in your transition of aligning with your true self 
  • You want support with beginning hormone therapy
  • You feel shame/guilt about your gender identity or sexual orientation 
  • You are having difficulty enjoying intimacy because of your identity
  • You have a desire to connect with queer community or other resources but unsure where to start

Holistic Therapy

This approach embodies the idea of treating the individual as a whole. There is research promoting the interconnecting between the mind and body. When we experience stress, we can see it coming out in our thoughts, but also seeing our behaviors and physical tension within our body.

This therapy can also incorporate, if desired, spiritual exploration in becoming aware of your own energy and power within.I integrate an array of methods both evidence-based practices as well as nontraditional methods depending on the individual’s needs and interests as appropriate per case. 

Nontraditional methods include:

  • Mindfulness practices
  • Grounding techniques
  • Tarot in psychotherapy. (Tarot in psychotherapy uses the imagery of tarot as a supportive tool in combination with evidence-based practices including cognitive behavioral therapy, analytical psychotherapy, and narrative therapy.)

Holistic therapy approach may be for you if:

  • You do not find “traditional talk therapy” helpful 
  • You are having difficulty calming racing thoughts in your mind
  • You are in a constant state of stress
  • You experience trouble sleeping without medical cause
  • You are interested in addressing trauma in a gentle, client-led way
  • You are highly sensitive to other’s energy and seeking reprieve 
  • You struggle to put your experiences into words 
  • You want to build on spiritual practices and unsure how to integrate this into mundane life. 
  • You enjoy tarot practices and/or wondering how to continue furthering inner child and shadow work 
  • You feel that your life is out of control and desire having more tools to regain power
