Relational Therapy

Relationships are such an important part of our life, and effect how we view ourselves as increase stress levels.

Often times, we feel like with different relationships the same thing keeps happening and wondering that this is no longer a coincidence. We can feel stuck in relationships with family, friends, or romantic partners. People seek therapy to get “unstuck”, gaining clarity and perspective to be able to respond differently.

Relational therapy can be done as an individual, or with partners.

Possible reasons to seek relational therapy:

  • Noticing emotional exhaustion/burnout at work or at home
  • You have self-awareness and still finding yourself getting stuck in familiar patterns you desire to change
  • You are having difficulty growing in deeper connection
  • Noticing you are more anxious with loved ones or friends and feeling unseen when you’re not in a “helping role”

Treatment

  • Emotionally-focused therapy — exploring patterns, your needs & desires
  • Solution-focused – Learning about boundaries and communication skills

EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy is a research-based approach that helps people heal from traumatic or distressing life experiences. Instead of just talking about painful memories, EMDR uses guided eye movement or bilateral self tapping stimulation to help the brain reprocess and release stuck memories.

May be for you if:

  • You want to feel more in control and present in the moment
  • You want to feel relief from distressing fixating thoughts
  • Talk therapy has helped, but you still feel stuck
  • You try to intellectualize to get unstuck and still not getting the relief you desire.
  • You’re in a profession/role where you are surrounded by stressful or traumatic experiences that you take home with you

Somatic & Ecotherapy

This approach embodies the idea of treating the individual as a whole. There is research promoting the interconnecting between the mind and body. When we experience stress, we can see it coming out in our thoughts, but also seeing our behaviors and physical tension within our body.

Ecotherapy incorporates the lens of using nature’s seasons to align more in healing. I integrate an array of methods both evidence-based practices as well as nontraditional methods depending on the individual’s needs and interests as appropriate per case.

Methods include:

  • Somatic Therapy – Bringing awareness to the body through breathwork, bringing the subconscious online through visualizations in the body
  • Internal Family Systems Therapy  – Helps you understand the different parts of you that had to survive in different ways. IFS helps you listen to them with compassion, so you can heal and work together. At the core, the belief that you have a calm, wise strong Self that can lead your healing journey and “reparenting” younger parts in the process.
